I really enjoyed watching and discussing Greg Whiteley’s documentary film ‘Most Likely To Succeed.’ I love the idea of incorporating more inquiry into education but what stood out most to me was the discussion around how the structure of current mainstream schools has not really changed since their inception. There seems to always be a lot of discussions (and change) in relation to curriculum and how teachers teach, but not the structure of schools themselves (the division of classrooms, the number of grades, the timetable, etc.). For some reason, this was something I had not thought about as much but when the film presented and discussed the Committee of Ten it really sunk in. I now find myself with a whole new set of questions around what reforms do education systems need?
